Vention’s robotic flexibility aims to tackle the skilled labor crisis

Vention, known for its simplified approach to industrial automation, is introducing two robotic work cells to assist manufacturers and machine shops as they face a skilled labor shortage.

Vention’s Click & Customize robotic work cell family includes machine tending and welding solutions that are pre-engineered and ready to be customized with the company’s free drag-and-drop MachineBuilder software. Built for speed and flexibility, these solutions enhance productivity and safety while ensuring consistent quality.

More than 20% of manufacturing plants cited insufficient labor as a key reason they were not at full production, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Quarterly Survey of Plant Capacity Utilization.

“Machine shops are looking for practical, accessible automation solutions that don’t require massive upfront investments or complex integration,” Etienne Lacroix, founder and CEO of Vention, said in a statement. “Vention customers have successfully used our platform for machine tending and welding for years. With our new easy-to-configure machine tending and welding cells, businesses can now automate even faster and stay competitive.”

Here’s how Vention’s robotic solutions can impact your business:

Robotic machine tending

Designed for manufacturers and machine shops, Vention’s machine tending solution automates the loading and unloading of material parts from CNC machines, giving operators time to focus on higher-value tasks, and serving as an alternative to custom automation.

Users can select from various base models and robot arm styles from ABB, FANUC, and Universal Robots. The company also offers a wide variety of grippers and other end-of-arm tools.

Advanced automated welding

Vention’s modular welding cells are designed to streamline metal inert gas (MIG) welding by combining equipment with hardware and software, helping businesses automate with precision and efficiency. This enables job shops to quickly build their own welding cell, starting with one of six starter designs.

The system enhances weld quality, improves deposition rates, and increases arc-on time, all while addressing the labor gap in skilled welding. According to the American Welding Society (AWS), more than 320,000 new welding professionals will be required by 2029. Companies could future-proof their production lines by incorporating this machine.
