Engineered to assist in food manufacturing, ULMA Packaging has introduced the TFX, a range of thermoforming machines built with efficiency and sustainability in mind.
ULMA Packaging said it has incorporated technology into the machines to optimize the packaging process. The movement synchronization feature improves productivity by up to 10%, and the new vacuum system design reduces the cycle time by 20%, according to the company.
Features to enhance packaging quality
The TFX range features automatic film alignment, zone heating, and atmosphere control in the sealing area, according to ULMA Packaging.
Additionally, the machines offer in-line quality control solutions for the verification and inspection of labels in the sealing area.
The company said this range of machines incorporates its ‘Better Form X’ technology, which allows the use of thinner base films without compromising the rigidity of the package, and the ‘Better Seal X’ enables efficient sealing of eco-friendly materials.

Quick changeovers and simplified operation
ULMA Packaging said the TFX line can reduce format changeover time because of the machine’s technologies, which include touchscreen-controlled tray height adjustment, automatic film and label roll changeovers, and quick-release systems for cutting.
In addition, the company says it has created a radio frequency identification (RFID) verification system that identifies molds and cutting tools based on the selected format and recipe, which reduces setup time and enhances operational safety.
Machine operators can use the TFX’s control panels to achieve clear access to all machine functions while reducing unnecessary movement on the production floor.

Smart production features
ULMA Packaging said that the TFX line includes features that can enhance efficiency, and a centralized recipe management system allows machines to auto-adjust settings based on production orders.
Additionally, it has built-in monitoring tools to track film usage, electricity, air, and gas, which can be tracked by shift or by batch.
Once the run is complete, the system generates a detailed PDF report to provide manufacturers with a comprehensive view of production performance.
