Tab Industries’ orbital stretch wrapper improves palletizer packaging and worker safety

At ProMat in Chicago, Tab Industries displayed its Tab Wrapper Tornado, an adaptable orbital stretch wrapping machine designed to securely wrap palletized loads.

The company, based in Reading, Pennsylvania, says the Tornado can wrap 360 degrees around a horizontal axis to cover all six sides of the pallet in less than one minute, ensuring product security during transport and enhancing worker safety.

Efficient, secure packaging

The Tab Wrapper Tornado, which is made in America, is used when a forklift driver positions the pallet load within the machine’s wrapping ring and turns on the machine. It then wraps products onto the pallet until the driver presses stop and transports the wrapped pallet to a truck or storage rack.

“This is a very versatile machine,” said Andrew Brizek, vice president of sales and marketing at Tab Industries, during an interview with Packaging OEM.

The machine can be used in a variety of industries, including industrial parts and products with standard, oversized, and irregular shapes. It comes in three standard sizes:

·         80” accommodates 48” x 48” can support 2,000 pounds of weight with 120V current

·         100” fits a 60” by 60” skid, can bear up to 2,500 pounds of weight, with 240V current

·         115” is suitable for a 50” wide pallet x 95” tall and can carry 3,000 pounds of weight with 240V current

Optional upgrades include smart controls, safety scanners, remote operation, automated cut and wrap, dispensing system, and a portable design.

Companies can select from a range of films that are compatible with the machine, including colored options for branding. With the proper film, products remain secure and can be read with various barcode readers.

Manufacturer impact

The Tab Wrapper Tornado can assist companies in speeding up the packaging process by removing rejected orders and freight damage claims and eliminating the need for crates, boxes, bins, banding, or strapping.

It can serve as a standalone system or integrate into an existing line, no matter what type of controller is used.

“We have integrated into various platforms whether you’re operating off an ABB platform or an Allen-Bradley. We have the capability to integrate into said line,” said Brizek.
