SOMIC Packaging will introduce its new SOMIC 202 cartoner to North American customers at Pack Expo International this fall.
The machine is designed for standard packaging applications and can handle regular slotted cases (RSCs), trays, and wraparound cartons at speeds up to 20 packs per minute. The company says the compact system is intended for manufacturers looking to automate cartoning without moving into a larger, more complex platform.
The SOMIC 202 made its global debut earlier this year at Interpack. Its North American launch will take place October 18-21 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Built for standard packaging tasks
The SOMIC 202 collects, groups, and packs pre-packaged products into single-piece corrugated cartons.
The system supports trays, wraparound cartons, and RSCs. SOMIC says the RSC version can also be used as a wraparound packer by adding another format.
The machine uses platform-independent SOMIC controls with an intuitive human-machine interface (HMI). Cartons are placed directly onto a conveyor chain without a vacuum system.

The 180-degree door opening is designed to improve access to the machine, while SOMIC QuickChange allows operators to complete format changeovers without tools. LED corner lighting also provides machine-status visibility from multiple sides.

Entry point into automated cartoning
SOMIC is positioning the 202 as an entry-level cartoning system for manufacturers with standardized packaging requirements.
The machine is intended for use in food, pet food, cosmetics, healthcare, and other non-food applications. The company says the compact footprint and simplified operation make the system particularly suited for smaller manufacturers and companies moving into automated cartoning.
North American customers are supported through SOMIC’s Minnesota operation, which handles consultation, final assembly, commissioning, service, and spare parts support.

More equipment and digital tools at Pack Expo
SOMIC will also demonstrate its 434 platform at Pack Expo. The system can be configured as a case packer, tray packer, or wraparound packer. It can also be deployed as a multifunction machine capable of producing all three carton styles. It can run at speeds up to 32 cycles per minute.
The company will showcase its SOMIC Eagle and SOMIC Connect.
SOMIC Eagle uses multiple cameras to record machine sequences and document faults. SOMIC Connect shares video and diagnostic data, including programmable logic controller (PLC) and HMI logs and error information, with service teams to support troubleshooting and reduce downtime.
SOMIC will exhibit at booth N-4740 during Pack Expo International 2026.
