SEW Eurodrive aims to streamline product identification with DriveTag

SEW Eurodrive recently announced the launch of DriveTag in the United States. It’s a customized barcode labeling service aimed at simplifying product identification, streamlining logistics, and optimizing internal material flow for customers.

The company says it’s designed for high-volume operations, offering OEMs, manufacturers, and system integrators with the capabilities to achieve faster throughput while eliminating errors and providing greater traceability.

What’s embedded in each DriveTag

The system is fully personalized for each customer as it mirrors that client’s internal processes. DriveTag includes a custom-engineered barcode label that’s applied directly to SEW Eurodrive’s products or packaging. That data is defined by the customer and is embedded in the tag, including their own material number, purchase order number, project number, and SEW serial number.

“By embedding customer-defined data into every product label, we’re giving them the ability to automate identification, improve visibility, and take control of their internal logistics with speed and precision,” said Jeff Belk, mechanical product manager at SEW Eurodrive, in a statement.

ERP integration and benefits

DriveTag can connect with a customer’s existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software or inventory management platforms. When scanned, DriveTag data updates seamlessly in existing systems to create real-time transparency across all stages of the process.

The system also works with SEW Eurodrive’s Product ID plus app, delivering data straight to the user’s fingertips. Operators can scan the DriveTag QR code to retrieve product-specific data, technical documentation, and service options on their smartphone or tablet.
