Provisur Technologies will showcase its Formax Free Movement System at Pack Expo International 2026, which takes place October 18-21 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The system provides fully automated product handling from slicing through packaging. It uses free-floating movers that travel across an electromagnetic surface in programmable configurations.
Provisur, which is part of Fortifi Food Processing Solutions, says the platform combines several product-handling functions into one system. It can be used for meat and cheese slicing lines, sandwich lines, snack packs, variety packs, and other food applications.
“Groundbreaking technology is about more than doing the same job faster. It is about simplifying the process,” said Brian Sandberg, director of technology at Provisur, in a statement. “By combining multiple product-handling functions into a single programmable platform, the FMS gives processors flexibility they’ve never had with other systems.”

Programmable movement without fixed tracks
The Formax Free Movement System moves products between slicing and packaging without fixed mechanical tracks.
The company says that the programmable layout allows processors to reconfigure product flow without adding additional machinery. It offers a compact design intended to reduce floorspace requirements while limiting manual product handling. The company says these features can help improve hygiene.

The system is designed to maintain product presentation as items move through the line. Provisur also says the setup reduces maintenance requirements compared with systems that use more mechanical components.

Pairing product handling with high-volume slicing
Provisur will pair the system with its Formax SX550 slicer at the show. The SX550 is the company’s largest volume slicer. Its upper infeed conveyors maintain control of the product as it moves toward the blade, while the blade design is intended to capture the final slices and improve yield.
The machine can be configured during installation, with additional functions available as production needs change. It offers an open design to simplify cleaning and sanitation.
The SX550 can handle calibrated and irregularly shaped lunchmeat, cheese, whole-muscle products, and streaky bacon.

More food processing technology at Pack Expo
Other Fortifi Food Processing Solutions companies will also exhibit at booth LU-7807. MHM Automation will feature reverse packaging technology along with freezer and chilling tunnels.
Nothum Food Processing Systems will provide information on automated batter, breading, and frying lines.
