In Episode 18 of The Downtime, WTWH Media’s weekly manufacturing podcast, Memphis Record Pressing (MRP) shares how it modernized vinyl production through upgrades to its end-of-line packaging machinery.
Co-hosts Sarah Wynn and Sheri Kasprzak talk with Brandon Seavers, MRP’s founder and CEO, operations manager Austin Burk, and Atlantic Packaging’s Nick Ott about how new systems helped scale a very traditional process for today’s demand.
Modern packaging for a classic format
MRP teamed up with Atlantic Packaging in 2021 to automate its packaging line with OEM technology, including shrink wrappers from Garrido Printing Equipment, case packers from Combi Packaging Systems, Wexxar Bel case erectors and sealers, labeling equipment from CTM Labeling Systems, and Wulftec stretch wrappers for pallet stabilization.
The MRP team says that this integration has improved efficiency, reduced manual strain, and ensured consistent quality across production.
“Now, in our packaging facility, we are definitely more of an orchestra. Whereas three years ago, we were a punk rock band,” said Seavers, when asked about MRP’s current production line compared to the past.
Tune in to hear how MRP struck the right chord between tradition and technology on The Downtime.
