“This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Pacteon’s growth strategy and reaffirms its commitment to product-handling expertise,” said the Brewerton, N.Y.-based company. It did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

“We are thrilled to welcome Descon into the Pacteon family,” stated Mike Odom, CEO of Pacteon Group. “This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity for us to provide more complete solutions for our customers to automate the supply of life’s products. Together, we will continue to innovate, deliver exceptional solutions for our customers, and differentiate ourselves in the packaging industry.”

Pacteon expands with market demand

The global market for conveyor systems was worth $6.4 billion in 2023, according to Future Market Insights. The research firm said it expects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.45%, with the market reaching $10.9 billion by 2033.

Pacteon Group develops end-of-line packaging equipment. It provides design, manufacturing, and after-market support of integrated, automated packaging systems. It said its companies, including Schneider Packaging Equipment, ESS Technologies Inc., Phoenix Wrappers, and Descon, have installed more than 10,600 machines.

The Pacteon portfolio includes cartoners, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, pick-and-place robots, and pallet stretch wrapper.

As part of the acquisition, Descon will maintain its brand identity, facilities, and leadership team. Pacteon said this approach will allow it to preserve Descon’s unique strengths and capabilities while capitalizing on collaboration opportunities.
