Pack Expo Las Vegas: a first look at the machines shaping the future of packaging

Las Vegas is known for high stakes and big bets, but this fall the focus will be on the Pack Expo show floor, where packaging machinery aims to increase efficiency and performance.

Industry professionals from around the world will gather at the city’s convention center from September 29 through October 1, 2025, to see OEMs and suppliers showcase new equipment, components, and technology.

“This year’s Pack Expo in Las Vegas is going to feature over a million square feet of space and 2,300 exhibitors,” said Matt Jones, vice president of sales at Hoosier Feeder, during an interview with The Downtime podcast. “Probably north of 30,000 attendees.”

Packaging OEM highlights several machines and innovations expected on the show floor, including drop packers, case packers, cartoners, robotics, material handling solutions, form fill seal machinery, and more.

Drop and case packing solutions

Hamrick Packaging Systems will highlight its 600 Series drop packer, designed to run glass and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles.

At Booth W-2706, the Kent, Ohio-based OEM will also spotlight its ComboBot robotic case packer, engineered for tight spaces, and demonstrate a stack-and-wrap application developed in collaboration with Lantech.

“We’re going to have a prime pallet dispenser index directly onto a Lantech turntable, and we’re going to place cases there and intermittently wrap as we build,” said Jordan Hamrick, CEO of Hamrick Packaging Systems.

Other drop packing solutions on display include Serpa’s new DP260 Drop Packer, designed for food, personal care, and household markets. The unit offers both single and tandem drop options and can achieve speeds of up to 60 cases per minute. It will be shown as part of ProMach’s equipment in Booth W-1148.

Robotic cartoning systems

After exploring drop and case packers, attendees can see how robotics is being applied to secondary packaging with cartoning systems.

JLS Automation will spotlight its Peregrine robotic cartoning system at Booth SL-15018. Designed for bakery items like snack cakes and ice cream treats, the machine takes primary packages from upstream machines and uses robotics to place them into top-load cartons.

“It’s a bit of a unique solution,” said Gary Pickett, director of secondary packaging for JLS Automation. “We incorporate JLS TRAK to precisely manage the carton throughout the process, and we incorporate what we call perpendicular flow of carton feeding. This gives us best-in-class accessibility for changeover machine operation.”

Another cartoner on display is R.A. Jones’ Alterion CL-170, a compact, mid-size cartoner built for medium-volume production. It can be deployed across industries, such as food, pharma, healthcare, personal care, electronics, and industrial. Demonstrations will take place daily at noon at the Coesia Booth, W-1064.

Container handling and orientation

Beyond case packing and cartoning, attendees can explore container handling solutions, including new robotics and automation offerings.

Morrison Container Handling Solutions will introduce two new machines: a Redesigned Screw Denester, which offers a compact footprint and quick-change capabilities for cups, tubs, and trays, and a Robotic Orienting System, incorporating vision, timing screw handling, parallel robotic arms, and recipe-based changeovers.

The Glenwood, Illinois-based company will also feature its Combiner and Divider Loop, Alternate Inverting Loop, Twist Blocks, Quick Changeover Drive Unit, and a changeover game at Booth W-3522.

Robotic bagging

PAC Machinery is teaming up with MSD Sales and CMES Robotics to present two integrated bagging and robotic solutions at Booth W-2344, including the Rollbag R785 Automatic Bagger. It incorporates a thermal transfer printer and Kitamatic part management for on-the-side bag printing.

The OEM will also showcase its Rollbag R3200 Paper Bagging System, which supports both paper and poly bagging and is incorporated with CMES Robotics’ artificial intelligence (AI)-powered picking and packaging technology.

Feeding and conveyance

For food packaging, Hoosier Feeder will showcase a centrifugal feeding system with a flexible chain alpine conveyor. It is capable of handling single-serve coffee pods at rates of up to 800 units per minute and will be run at Booth SL-12026.

“It’s highly flexible and scalable,” said Hoosier Feeder’s Jones, adding that the display unit can be made at a larger scale for full runs.

Dynamic Conveyor will present its DynaClean Radius Turn Conveyor Configuration for tight layouts, engineered for food environments with patented toolless disassembly. The company will also feature a hybrid right-angle activated roller belt (ARB) conveyor for 90-degree box transfers without pushers. These material handling offerings will be on display at Booth SU-28016.

Form, fill, seal machinery

Bartelt Packaging, a ProMach brand, will debut its Mag-B horizontal form fill seal (HFFS) machine at Booth W-1130. Engineered with magnetic linear track technology, it produces pouches from roll-stock film. Bartelt says it offers changeovers in 15 minutes or less.

Triangle Packaging Machinery Co. will introduce its Elwin vertical form fill seal (VFFS) bagger at Booth W-2200. Built with open-frame channel construction, Triangle says it’s designed to integrate seamlessly with filling equipment.

Prefilled syringe technology

Antares Vision Group will highlight technology for prefilled syringes at Booth N-5844. The VRI-VI 060 S visual and leak detection system features a split-infeed screw setup to handle up to 400 syringes per minute. The ETFS-300 Automatic Labeling System combines plunger rod insertion and labeling in one unit.

The Italian company will also debut Inspecta, a unified interface across all its visual inspection solutions, and highlight a barcode-based cold chain management system with real-time dashboards and alerts.

Rapid equipment delivery

Econocorp will share its new Rapid Delivery Program at Booth W-2522, aimed at delivering cartoning and end-of-line packaging equipment faster. Fully configured Twinseal semi-automatic carton sealers can now ship in two to four weeks, and E-2000 horizontal cartoners in four to eight weeks. These systems will be on display, along with a Spartan cartoner and a robotic palletizer.
