PAC Machinery’s new bags streamline barcode scanning for e-commerce

Engineered for online shopping and Amazon resellers, PAC Machinery has introduced its new barcode blocking bags that are built to work with auto baggers and horizontal side sealers in the automated packaging process.

The patent-pending barcode blocking bags are designed to prevent internal barcodes from being scanned, making them ideal for companies that ship products to fulfillment centers, like Amazon warehouses, where a different barcode is required.

“Online sellers don’t have time for barcode errors, and now, they don’t have to. These new poly bags do the job right out of the bag, saving packaging time, cutting mistakes, and keeping fulfilment flowing. It’s a simple fix with a big impact,” said Greg Berguig, president at PAC Machinery, in an exclusive statement to Packaging OEM.

Meeting online shopping requirements

Featuring a unique design, the bags include a suffocation warning to eliminate the scanning errors for fulfillment by Amazon’s internal product barcodes.

Shippers no longer have to manually cover product barcodes, including universal product code (UPC) or QR codes, like 2D barcodes.

“[The design] looks like spirographs… That blocks the barcode of the item from going inside. No longer do you have to cover that up with a blank label,” said Berguig, speaking to Packaging OEM at ProMat.

Incorporating the bags into automation

Constructed of two-millimeter poly material, the bags provide both protection and presentation. They can be used in automated packaging as the barcode prints on a designated space on the outside of the bag during the assembly process.

They’re available in pre-opened rolls and are suitable for auto baggers and automation settings. They also work with flat film for high-speed horizontal side sealers. In automation settings, they can streamline operations and reduce labor costs, the company said.

The company demonstrated the bags at ProMat with its R785, an all-electric tabletop auto bagger.
