Eco-friendly packaging solutions for order fulfillment

With the growing demand for eco-friendly products, sustainability has become an integral part of the modern packaging industry. Companies are either adapting by retrofitting existing equipment or investing in new machinery to meet these challenges.

PAC Machinery, headquartered in San Rafael, California, has unveiled its latest sustainable packaging solutions. At ProMat, a trade show for supply chain solutions, the company will introduce its new automatic bagging system, the Rollbag R985 compact bagger. It’s a tabletop auto bagger designed for sustainable packaging, as it can support both paper and legacy poly material.

Additionally, the company will share its Rollbag R3200 fulfillment auto bagger, which is designed for larger packaging needs. Both systems offer eco-friendly solutions for businesses looking to make the shift toward sustainable packaging.

Benefits of the Rollbag R985

The Rollbag R985 is engineered to accommodate poly bags up to 12” wide and paper bags up to 11” wide and is compatible with pre-opened bags on a roll, or fan-folded bags in a box.

Key features of the R985 include:

  • Advanced sealing systems: The machine creates 8mm-wide airtight seals for poly bags up to 6 mil in thickness and paper bags supporting up to 75 pounds. An optional 1.5 wide seal for poly bags is also available.
  • Convenience: A touchscreen interface is included with the capacity to set up 50 jobs.
  • Label printing: The built-in 4” label printer applies shipping or data labels directly onto bags.
  • Safety and power efficiency: The R985 is equipped with a stepper motor that stops when it detects force, according to PAC Machinery. Due to its design, internal components can be accessed quickly. Additionally, the machine’s low power consumption design uses under 1,000 watts of energy.
  • Additional features: The bagger also features vacuum grippers and a compact design.

“The R985 is our third innovation in the ‘flexible sustainability’ solutions lineup, designed to accommodate dual material options,” Greg Berguig, PAC Machinery President, said in a statement.

The R985 can benefit industries such as food, industrial, medical, and beauty manufacturing.

Rollbag R3200 benefits

The Rollbag R3200 is an eco-friendly solution for businesses that ship larger items. It comes in two sizes, the R3200 handles bags up to 16” wide, while the R3200XL accommodates bags up to 22” wide.

The R3200 and R3200XL can use poly bags made from up to 100% recycled content, including high levels of post-consumer resin.

“These new solutions not only offer versatility but also future-proof investments against changing plastic regulations,” Berguig said in a statement. “With this latest group of innovative solutions, companies can seamlessly transition to paper packaging as regulations and consumer preferences evolve, ensuring they don’t waste time or money on new investments.”

Manufacturers who ship out items in mailers, such as apparel, could benefit from the R3200 or R3200XL.
