BestPack highlights precision of its fully automatic carton sealer

At ProMat in Chicago, BestPack Packaging Systems demonstrated its fully automatic CSF carton sealer, capable of handling 12 boxes of random sizes per minute.

Engineering for efficiency, the CSF is a three-station operation designed to handle a variety of box sizes with accuracy, including top and bottom sealing. Driven by a servo motor to improve flap-folding speed and reduce noise, it also includes features to prevent carton jams.

“One servo motor has three stations,” said Patrick Lim, regional sales director at BestPack Packaging Systems, during an interview with Packaging OEM. “You have your indexing station, your flap folding station, and your resealing station.”

Efficient features for reliability

The CSF is equipped with an Allen Bradley MicroLogix programmable logic controller (PLC) and an EWON VPN Wi-Fi module to provide manufacturers and machine builders with free phone support for easy diagnosis and to ensure smooth operations while minimizing downtime.

It runs on standard voltage at 110V with a dedicated 20-amp circuit. It requires compressed air to operate, including 80 PSI (pounds per square inch) and a flow rate of 9 SCFM (standard cubic feet per minute).

To prevent jams on the line, its side belt drive system features a random side belt drive and high-speed motors, with rollers behind the belts to reduce wear and tear on parts. It includes 2-inch or 3-inch pop-out pressure-sensitive tape heads and a floating sealing system to provide more consistent sealing across varying carton heights.

Additionally, it offers upstream and downstream interlock and a 7-inch color human-machine interface (HMI) for easy operation.

Built with a heavy-duty frame and casters, the CSF is available in a standard baked enamel finish or food-grade 304 stainless steel for 21 CFR 110 compliance. Available in four sizes, the CSF offers conveyor height adjustment from 25.5-inches to 30-inches.

Optional features for safety include entry and exit gates, an AB safety relay, dual-channel interlocks, and dump valves.

Industries served

The CSF can be deployed in a variety of packaging applications, including e-commerce businesses and retail giants that require efficient sealing for their shipments.

“This serves a lot of 3PLs internet industry companies,” said Lim. “All the way from IKEA to Staples to Office Depot.”

Overall, the CSF’s adaptability makes it fit for a range of business needs. Click here to learn more from BestPack.
