Digitization software enables real-time supply chain traceability

Antares Vision Group recently announced the addition of Diamind Connect, a cloud-based platform that can give real-time supply chain traceability to manufacturers and machine builders.

This software is an addition to the Italian company’s Diamind suite of products, which provides production monitoring and quality control.

Diamind Connect manages data to production processes to assist with sustainability and customer engagement. Additionally, the platform offers a tailored approach to the supply chain for several industries including food, beverage, cosmetics, textiles, and chemicals.

The Diamind Connect difference

Modularity allows the software to be adopted independently, or in combination with others. Its scalability enables the platform to connect to a plant at different levels, such as a single machine, or up to corporate settings. Also, it can integrate existing IT systems, including heterogeneous systems.

Combined, the software offers end-to-end traceability, providing an entire look at the supply chain, starting with raw materials. From there, the system continues through each stage of processing and concludes with the creation of a unique digital identity to track shelf-ready products. Once these are created, workers can scan them to access a variety of data depending on their needs, and role in the supply chain.

“One of its core strengths is its flexibility in traceability, which can be implemented at the item, batch or SKU level, offering varying levels of granularity. This flexibility ensures that products are tracked with precision, from individual units to entire production batches, capturing every relevant detail for easy access,” said Fabio Bonetti, Antares Vision Group’s Diamind Connect product manager, in an interview with Packaging OEM.

Digital identifiers can be associated with various tracking systems like QR codes, Datamatrix, near-field communication (NFC), and radio frequency identification technology, also known a RFID.

“For example, a warehouse operator can view real-time shipping details, inventory levels, and logistic updates, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of goods,” Bonetti said.

Specialized modules

Upon the creation of digital identifiers, Diamind Connect can transform untouched data from several sources into actionable insights through modules, including:

·         Sustainability: Analyzes a product’s environmental impact, including carbon footprint and lifecycle emissions.

·         Second-hand: Manages both the transparency and traceability of ownership for reusable products.

·         Customer engagement: Allows brands to create customized landing pages, marketing campaigns, and offer personalized consumer experiences linked to events, time periods, or product issues.

The company says it can also assist consumers with the packaging recycling process.

Who owns the data?

Antares Vision Group said the platform’s data is only accessible to the brand owner. This person retains control over which information to share with different members of the supply chain.

“This ensures data sovereignty and allows for a tailored approach to transparency, providing each actor with the precise level of information they need,” Bonetti said.

User interaction data is managed in compliance with privacy regulations, according to the company. The platform also supports the use of blockchain technology to manage transactions securely.

“By leveraging blockchain, any modifications to data are immutably recorded, ensuring traceability, integrity, and tamper-proof data management throughout the product lifecycle,” Bonetti said.
